When I created my schedule for this semester, I hoped to cram as many classes as possible into Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I spent a lot of time on LUSA fitting my classes together so I would have almost two entire days to do homework and labs.
Unfortunately, I succeeded. I say unfortunately because it allows me to be lazy on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I don't wake up with my alarm because I literally don't have to. This is terrible because it leaks over into the other days of the week, and makes me lazier on those days. It breaks up the pattern of my mornings so I tend to lounge around even on days when I need to start moving.
Hopefully I can start a pattern of exercise on Tuesday and Thursday to give myself a reason to get up and start moving.

Yesterday, I listened to the little voices. The little voices in everyone's head that tell them to do things. Crazy things, correct things, wrong things, they suggest them all, for to the creative aspect of your mind, they are all the same.
Yesterday, I listened. I cut my hair. Yes, I cut my own hair. I grabbed some clippers and cut it, starting on the sides, and missing the top. That was it! I had a fauxhawk. It was fun, and I am satisfied with the results.
Most people try and squelch the "unreasonable" voices in themselves. I have to ask, though, what hero have you heard of that chose the reasonable course? Heroes choose the ridiculous option of sacrificing themselves for another. While I do not mean to liken cutting one's hair to saving children from a burning building, I am proposing that those who save think on a different plane than most other folks.
I hope that I am one of the strange, one of those that can seperate themselves by taking the odd option. I hope I can be remembered as a hero.

Well, hello, internet. Isn't it lovely to be able to just click your mouse and learn so much? There's so much fun to be had on the internet! But what happens when your internet stops working and you're in the middle of something valuable?
This is what happens to me. Every day at about five o' clock, my internet slows to a trickle. I don't understand it, but it is infuriating! The IT folks promise relatively stable bandwidth, and a gigabyte a day, but I am not getting it! Even if I wanted to, I couldn't download a gig in a day simply because my connection is this slow.
Please, my dear LETU IT folks, fix my network! It's frustrating beyond what I can endure.

My birthday was August 27th, so I got some presents of course. Most notably, I got a $25 Best Buy gift card from my brother and his wife. So, I romped over to Best Buy and started looking at how to spend my money. I looked at games, at music, simple stuff like that. I poked around in the accessories for a while to no avail. I finally decided on A game, Far Cry 2, and some music from DJ Tiesto. I purchased it, and headed out the door.
I got in the car, and quickly realized that the music I'd bought was not, in fact, two CDs as I had thought, but two DVDs. Well, not what I expected, as I couldn't play it in my car, but it's still good music and I could probably rip it when I got home. When I did get home, I popped in Far Cry 2, installed it, and started playing. I found it a bit complex, so I dropped the difficulty to easy in hopes that I would figure it out soon. I didn't. The game is much more confusing than I'd initially thought.
My point is this: things are great, I love things. The problem is that if you rely on them fulfilling your expectations to make you happy, you'll be in trouble soon. Luckily, I don't live that way, so neither of my realizations will really impact me. I'll fight through Far Cry 2 anyway, and I'll find a way to get the music off the Tiesto DVDs. It wasn't what I expected, but it was still good.
That actually is true about many things. Surprises can be good, surprises can be bad, but by themselves, a surprise is little more than something unexpected. Unexpected things are good, they are spicy, they keep things rolling just when your mind starts to settle. So, keep your head on its toes: enjoy the unexpected.
